For this week’s challenge, I took some inspo from doing a quick dive on Pinterest. I began looking into decorating notebooks, which led me to think about how cool it would be to make your own stickers in the comfort of your home. When looking for inspiration on new projects to do, a resource that helps me is Pinterest. I had an itch to decorate my notebook which led me down a rabbit hole where I found this video on how to make your own stickers!
The other day, my friend also gave me a sticker and it got me really excited. The project popped up on Pinterest and it seems like a lot of fun to make my own. If you’re like me, you enjoy putting stickers on the different things you own like your laptop, phone case, and so on. It makes your personal items that much more your own.
This challenge will allow us to make our items that much more personal! Before we get started it’s important to note that you will need some supplies for this challenge. I have also attached a picture for reference from the video below.
Wax Paper (Parchment paper should work as well)
Scissors
Coloring tools (crayons, markers, paint,*I used colored pencils)
Transparent Tape
Blank sheet of paper
Pencil
Pen (* to trace your pencil drawings)
Now, let’s get started! It may take some time, but I promise it’s a lot of fun! The best things in life take time.
Step 1: The first step of this challenge requires you to use a blank sheet of paper and a pencil. On the sheet of paper draw anything that you would like or that first comes to your mind. If you need inspiration for doodles to draw I use Pinterest, it can be difficult to come up with what you want to draw. There isn’t a specific amount of drawings that you need to fill up the page, I just kept drawing until I filled most of the page but feel free to draw as much as you’d like. Overall, treat this drawing as if you were doodling in a notebook.
Note: You can also draw/ doodle on your iPad if you prefer and follow the same steps. You would just need to print out those doodles after you have finished.
Step 2: After you feel like you have finished with your doodles, trace over the images with a pen.
Step 3: Once you have finished tracing your images with a pen, color them in with your coloring tool of choice. If you don’t want to color them in, that’s okay too! As you can see in my example, I didn’t color all of my images.
Step 4: Now you are almost there! Grab your scissors and start cutting the images that you created (this doesn’t have to be perfect cuts, have fun with it)!
Step 5: Next, grab your wax paper or parchment paper and your tape. Once you have done so, place the tape with the sticky side down on your wax paper or parchment paper.
Step 6: Spread your cut-out images across your taped-down wax paper or parchment paper.
Step 7: Grab some more tape, and proceed to put it over your images again with the sticky side down.
Step 8: Cut out your taped-down images.
Step 9: You did it! You just made stickers! Feel free to stick them anywhere! Make sure to peel the back of your sticker along with the front. It may take a couple of times before you get it because the wax paper was a bit tricky for me.
That’s it for this week’s challenge! Pretty short and simple. It’s fun to see where your imagination goes! Hope you enjoyed this week’s challenge, I know I did! :)
