Evolving Expressions: A Metamorphic Challenge
Carissa’s Challenge to Avia- Create a collage based on the topic of Metamorphosis.
Hello everyone! For this week’s challenge, we will write and create a collage. As you might know, I love to write poems. I will say that I have not done it in a while, so the process for me was an exercise. With this in mind, Carissa thought of creating a challenge for me that builds upon a medium I am familiar with coupled with a new one that I have not often used. To create the collage you can feel free to lay out a stack of newspapers, scissors, and glue. In this challenge, I was asked to create a collage and poem using a device, specifically Instagram. Make sure that what you create relates to the topic of Metamorphosis.
What I learned during this process:
Be patient with yourself. Given my love for writing poetry, I was being hard on myself because I did not think that poems were up to “par”. This was a creative block since I thought more about the outcome than the journey.
Enjoy the process. With being critical of myself at times, it is important to let go and enjoy the process. Make it fun! Put on some music while you work on your craft and see what you come up with.
We all have different perspectives. When thinking of metamorphosis I was generally thinking about transitions I go through in life and enjoying the beauty of it. However, you might have a different perception or understanding of it, and that’s okay!
If you need help with creating a collage on Instagram, I would suggest to watch a quick YouTube tutorial, because it had taken me a bit to figure out how to create it. :)

Overall, I think the project got me out of my comfort zone. I hadn’t picked up a pen and paper in a while and have since missed this. This challenge allowed me to let my creative juices flow. The project is up to your interpretation. I look forward to seeing what you come up with!
