It’s been a long time since I have written here. The purpose of this space was to open a space to create for the sake of creating. To put forward a creative prompt to follow, to exercise that creative muscle.
As time went on with Creative Club, the weekly publishing of this “newsletter” started to put a lot of pressure onto me to perform. As soon as I knew it, I gave into AI and allowed it to come up with the ideas for me and to write the words you saw on the screen. With the juggling of a new seasonal job as well, I just lost my direction with Creative Club and gave up.
Since the last published creative challenge, a lot has happened with me personally. I was blessed with a daughter. I got diagnosed with ADHD. I stopped running my weekly Creative Recreation meet ups. I stopped running my weekly Simplex meetings with my team that was there in building all of this with me for half a decade. And I just disconnected with everything I was building here.
Life happened.
I have always wanted to get back to Creative Club, but I didn’t know how to do that authentically. I wanted my words to be on the ones you read.
I want my voice to be the one that is speaking. I want to be developing my skillset; not giving up on developing that skill because AI could generate something I deemed to be better.
Going forward, I want Creative Club to be about meeting us where we are.
I want us to want to create again for the sake of creating, BUT to also be proud about every work we make.
I don’t want us to judge the piece we create due to whatever flaws we are already seeking out in it. ( I know I do that plenty within myself).
We should be proud of what we made because it’s unique to you.
These creative prompts are not a test of your ability, but an expression of your unique creativity and story that only could have been made possible through you.
That’s the mission.
What these new Creative Club publications are going to look like is to be developed.
Posts may and probably will look differently each time. Posting times will probably be sporadic. I am just going to figure it out as I go.
I’m not going to nail this right away, I possibly could, but it also could take more time to develop. I have the ability to give myself that time to develop and I’m going to take advantage of that privilege.
The ability to organically develop is a major privilege in today’s society. Polish is expected from day 1 and I want Creative Club to be that safe space for you to also develop. That’s what this whole ecosystem was supposed to be built on from the beginning.
I can’t promise a format to you. I can’t promise a publishing schedule. I can’t promise polish. But I will promise development. I will promise authenticity. I will promise that where you are in your creative development is not a pre-requisite to join.
This is a relaunch of Creative Club, we’re developing it together. Let’s allow ourselves to be ourselves and be proud of where we are. Our projects here don’t need to impress. Our projects here don’t need to be looked at under a microscope. Our projects will be great because we made them. Our projects will be timestamps in our creative development. Our projects will be uniquely us.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Thank you for being a part of Creative Club. You are always welcome to create and develop here. Let’s enjoy our creative and personal development.
If you have any ideas for Creative Club, let me know in the comments.
With gratitude,
Troy Tintiangco
