Why can’t you start that project? Why can’t you start that hobby? Why can’t you take that first step? Why can’t you?
Stop dismissing your ability to learn! I used to be very dismissive to myself and my ideas. I still am tbh, but to less of a degree.
Why dismiss the things that your soul is yearning to do?
What are you scared of?
“I don’t know how to go about it.”
Wouldn’t that make everything more interesting to learn about?
You already know what you want to do and now you have to look into that and figure out what questions will get you to that goal.
“It’s overwhelming.”
You don’t need to focus on the end goal. Just understand that you are moving towards it.
Learn the answers to each small question that proceeds that. Those answers will move you forward. Each smaller question you answer will allow you to collect skills that will you towards the big goal.
Take the journey step by step.
You don’t learn how to sprint right away. You have to first learn how to crawl, then stand up, then take a few steps, then walk consistently, then we start to jog, then we can sprint.
It’s okay to be at the beginning of the journey. You can move forward at any moment in your life. The race at the end doesn’t need to be a marathon. You can just aim to learn how to walk; how to traverse the medium at a comfortable pace. How to be able to create without thinking about how to create, but just doing it.
The first step is always the hardest.
You try to take that first step and you look at where you have gone and you see no distance has been traveled. But now you can look up and understand where you stand. It’s okay to be at the beginning. Take a look around.
As you take these steps and get more involved in your journey you will begin to realize that taking these steps isn’t as arduous as it once was. You are no longer looking down at your legs trying to move it step by step, but now looking up at the scenery around you and beginning to see the beauty around you. You see the possibilities. You no longer care about how many steps it takes you to get to where the sprinters are at, but you know you are much further than where you started.
The beauty with creativity is that it is always available to you. You just have to allow yourself to start.
You want to learn how to paint. Go to the store and get some supplies, sit down and start painting. You can just do a finger painting. You can create the worst painting you have ever seen in your life, but you have made something that didn’t exist in the world yesterday. You took a first step. Maybe next you try to paint a scenery, or an object. Take that next step. Who cares if it’s bad? Just have fun with it. You’re creating for yourself! You’re gonna suck. Unless you’re some prodigy. Then you’re welcome for pushing you to start!
Stop thinking you can’t. That’s lame behavior.
I know you can. You can do that project. You can start that hobby. You can take that first step.
You just have to allow yourself to start. Allow yourself to start. You are doing this for yourself and no one else. Who cares? The time will pass anyways, might as well do the things you’ve been wanting to do.
